Good morning! Welcome to the Keto Mom page, we're starting a new book. My name is Stephanie, and if you are brand new here, this page is all about helping you on your health and fitness journey in lots of different ways. So I will give you recipes, keto tips and tricks, and I'll answer all your questions. If you're brand new, send me a message, and I'd love to know what your goals are. If you're not brand new, and you've been here for a while, I'd love for you to send me a message and tell me what you're focused on this month. I'm super passionate about the power of mindset and realizing that if your mind isn't thinking right, or isn't fueled right, then whether you're working out or your goal is to eat better, or whatever it is, those things won't fall into place. And if they do, you will continue with old habits after you reach your goals. So if you're brand new, we've gone through a couple other books, like "Atomic Habits", the "Miracle Morning", and we've gone through a book called "Rain or Shine".

All of those books were intended to help you create systems and habits towards your goals.

To help you get up and not hit the snooze button, to help you do little things every single day, to move your health and fitness forward in a positive momentum and a positive direction. Yes, so we are going through a different type of book. The books that we went through in the past, over this last month, were based on science, trial and error and a little bit of story and an action. Now, if you're going through "The Traveler's Gift" with us, this book is perspective through story.

It's incredible, and I've already had so many people say they are already halfway through the book, and they couldn't put it down. So today, I'm going to talk about chapters one through three, mainly because it took those chapters to set up the first action step, or first perspective. And then after that, we'll just go through one chapter a day. So what we'll do is do chapters one through three today, and then we'll go through it, until you get to the next action step.

It's probably a chapter sometimes it's two, based on the story. So you can follow along here, but if you have the book, I would love to know every single day what your takeaway was. Because tomorrow, I'm going to draw a name for a winner. So if you're tuning in, and you have read chapters one through three, posts below and what was your biggest takeaway in these three chapters. And then tomorrow, somebody will win some mom fuel. So let me know below, are you reading the book with us? If you are, share what you're learning. Here's chapters one through three, the first two chapters set up the story for you. It's going to be a character, his name is David and it is going to be fictional. It's going to set you up to understand lots of different situations. So in this story, he just has life hit him. He's in the part of his life or he's in the valley and he's got some challenges. He didn't make the best choices, but he didn't realize it wasn't. So maybe some of you thought "Yeah, that's me, things are not going my way"... If we're just talking about health and fitness purely... Yes, this last year and a half to two years really threw me for a loop.

Whether it was jobs or family or health or emotional eating, and you maybe blaming, shaming or justifying other people.
Where we are now, is our own personal choice

Wherever you're at in your life right now, I'm sure you've been through a valley, I'm sure you've had challenges and what got you out of that. So chapter three, we're going to start on because he's going to do some kind of like time travel. You're not quite sure if he's dreaming, or if he was in a car accident. Some people might even ask if he is alive in the book, so he's basically going to time travel through different periods of time and meet key people that give him perspective on life. So he's in chapter three, and he's talking to President Truman, and President Truman is giving him some advice. Basically, David is saying, it's never going to happen to me, I'm never going to lose the weight... Like it's a victim mentality. Never me, I'm always, Poor me...

and so President Truman says "Why not you?", "Why can you not have what you're seeking for?", and so he says this, "I offer perspective, the ultimate outcome of anyone's life is a matter of personal choice"...

If you've been here for a while, you've probably heard me talk about not blaming, shaming or justifying anything else in your past, but owning your future. Drawing a line in the sand and realizing that "I couldn't handle what happened to me in the past. I didn't get to choose my environment, I didn't get to choose my parents, I didn't get to choose"... But there are some things you did get to choose. Most of you on here are adults, maybe you're living in the past, or you're blaming, but the ultimate outcome of anybody's life is a matter of personal choice, are you willing to own that? Some of you might say No, I'm not ready to... So he says "This is the essence of why you are here. It's one of the decisions for success". So then the book goes through seven decisions, seven mindset, kind of perspective, on walking you through life, and where you're going to go next.

It's based on personal choice, your future is what you decide it will be. I think some people will say, I don't get to decide, my life is already planned out for me. You do get to decide on a lot of things.
You should start taking responsibility

So I'm going to read you just a couple of things through, it's super great. So the main character David, says "You say that the future is what you decide, I'm not sure I agree with that. My present is certainly not my making. I've worked for years to finally end up with no job, no money and no prospects". "David, we are all in situations of our own choosing. Our thinking creates pathways to success or failure"... So he says "I'm not saying that outside influences are not responsible for where you are mentally, physically, spiritually, or emotionally or financially. You have chosen the pathways to your present destination, the responsibility for your situations is yours".

And then he lays things out, he says "Listen to this now, you are where you are because of your thinking. Your thinking dictates your decisions or choices. You decided where to go to college, you decided that what you were going to study, you decided what company you're going to work for. You decided the work that you're going to do, you chose the parties, the baseball games and the marriage, you've chosen all of that"...

Sometimes we think the things that happened to us, whether it was in our childhood, or teen years, but everything that we have in our present day, today we've chosen. Good or bad, right or wrong, which ultimately decides or depicts what your life looks like today. So in other words, it's my fault.

"So where I am today, no job, or I need to lose fifty pounds, I am not healthy, I don't work out. I feel like garbage, or not eating healthy. I'm not sleeping well. All of those things are your fault"... That's really tough to swallow, I get it. It's pretty harsh, and it's the choices you make every single day. So the books that we read in the past, are helping you create systems to change those bad habits. He says "The bad news is that the past was in your hands, but the good news is that the future my friend is also in your hands"... And basically he gives him some more perspective, walks him a little bit through life. What I love is he meets a character, like he's talking to President Truman and at the end of each lesson learned, he gets a little note.

Are you ready to stop blaming, shaming & justifying

So this is the first decision for success... You're going to get seven decisions to give you perspective, on how to have success in your life. Remember, I just talked about fat loss here, or feeling healthy, but this can be in any area of your life. Relationships, finances, spiritually, all of those things. I'm not going to read you the entire thing, but it always gives you a really cool note of perspective. This one says "The buck stops here, from this moment forward, I will accept responsibility for my past. I understand the beginning of wisdom is to accept the responsibility for my own problems. And that by accepting responsibility for my past, I free myself to move into a bigger, brighter future of my choosing. The buck stops here, I accept responsibility for my past, and I am responsible for my success".

So the question is this, are you ready to accept responsibility for your future, are you ready to accept responsibility for your health and fitness? Are you ready to draw the line in the sand and say the past is the past, I'm not going to blame anybody. I'm not going to get frustrated, I'm not going to not do my part. Because I am where I am today for choices and reasons that I've decided and have chosen. And now you're going to move forward, the buck stops here...

I control my thoughts, I control my emotions and I accept responsibility for my past. I control my thoughts, I control my emotions, I am responsible for my success, the buck stops here.

That is chapter three, it's pretty amazing. So every single chapter is going to give you a key to success, and that's the first one. So we are not going to blame anybody else, and you're going to take responsibility for your health and fitness today. Which might mean, I didn't go out to eat today and it's my choice, I'm going to choose to drink water instead of Mountain Dew. I'm going to choose to go to the gym, even though I'm exhausted because I am responsible for my health. I'm going to choose to make the better decision. I'm not going to go out to eat with the co workers, I packed my lunch. I'm going to take a little bit of time today and plan my week because I didn't plan it yesterday, so I'm going to take responsibility.

Give me your takeaways, we will giveaway Mom fuel

Are you willing to do that? I'd love to know. I'd love to know your thoughts on the book, and again if you're brand new, there's lots of things to learn on the Keto Mom page.

Every morning, my hope is to give you a little perspective on your mindset. Because this is important, just as important as your food and moving your body. Secondly, if you're reading the book with us, post below what you're learning so that tomorrow, I will give a prize away. We'll do it every single day, and then just continue to tune into the page.
