Keto Is Overwhelming! What You Really Need To Know!

We're going to dive into the conversation that I usually have with people in messenger. A lot of you have been messaging me saying...

"Help! Help! I don't know what to eat! I don't know what to drink! I've listened to this person and that person, and somebody told me to do this! I don't know what keto or low-carb meals are. I've listened to so many things, I don't know what to do. And why should I listen to you?"...

ARE YOU OVERWHELMED?

I want to give you a basic understanding of this concept so you don't get overwhelmed. We don't have to be frustrated with all the "How to"s and what is perceived to be correct. I just want to give you a couple of steps to help you get healthier.

How many of you have ever felt overwhelmed?

Somebody else told me to eat this way.

Somebody else told me to eat this.

somebody told me to drink this.

Why do I have to drink a supplement and all of these things?

I know this page says Keto Mom, but I'm really not strict about keto, instead I drink ketones. I'm actually more low-carb or carb-conscious. I don't coach people on doing the actual ketogenic diet unless they actually want to do it for medical reasons.

Most people can stick to a more low-carb or carb-conscious option. There's a difference between keto and low-carb, and you can follow a lot of different people to know more.

For keto, you need to track everything, weigh everything, and do a very strict, rigorous diet. In reality, most people don't stick with it long-term.

Most people will say, "I don't understand", "I've tried paleo and whole 30", "I've done this and I've done that", or "I drink this and I've done that thing"... Sometimes people will even, "Keto is so unhealthy".

IS KETO UNHEALTHY?

I don't think they truly understand keto. Some people have this perceived notion that keto is bacon, butter, and fat bombs. That's just not it! Instead, I want you to think about veggies, proteins, salad, and avocados. Butter isn't terrible, but Olive oil is better. What are some good healthy fats? You can eat more proteins and veggies.

SUGAR OUT!

If your goal is just to eat healthily, the first thing you can do is take the sugar out. Easier said than done! But the goal is to stop snacking on all the sugar!

Take the sugar out of your home, would you agree? I know it's easier said than done, that's why I tell people that I drink a product to help me with that every single day.

KETONES

I drank ketones eight years ago and it turned my brain on and it helped me control my appetite. There are certain things that people are going to suggest to you because they helped them, just like the things I did that helped me.

So that's why I suggest drinking ketones because I think it's a very powerful tool. It helps me not to snack all day. It also gives me ketones in my body without having to do the strict keto diet. It turns my brain and my appetite on, I'm not snacking all day, and I feel incredible!

How long will it take for you to remove the sugar, and can you have cheat days?

It probably could take a couple of weeks to get the sugar out of your system. And yes, you can have cheat days but you have to get back on track.

What are you drinking?

It doesn't matter what diet or lifestyle you're following, you should be drinking half your body weight in ounces of water.

"I'm not going to be overwhelmed with keto"

"I'm going to cut down the sugar"

"I'm going to drink more water"

By cutting down the sugar, you're not grabbing all the sugary coffees, you're getting rid of the soda, and you don't need to be drinking the juice. Drink more water and fewer sugary drinks.

It doesn't matter who you're watching, you shouldn't be overwhelmed. Those are some of the things that are common sense and will help you with your day. If you have questions, ask below or send me a message.

HOW I STARTED

When started drinking ketones, I only drank one packet a day. I got up in the morning, ate my eggs and sausage, and I drank my ketones around 9 or 10 o'clock. I felt incredible all day!

Now, I get up super early, I do CrossFit, and I do two packets a day but not every day.

If you've never tried ketones, I'll talk about them at the end. You can also post "Trial" in the comments so we can chat. So we take the sugar out and drink more water. The next thing is to take the word keto and low carb out of your verbiage. You can also cut out things like pasta, excess bread, or really high-carb foods. That would be very beneficial for you.

Sometimes we get so trapped in this keto verbiage that we just get so overwhelmed. If your goal is to feel better, lose some fat, and get stronger, then you have to remove the sugar as much as you can. Drink more water, and be aware of what you're drinking.

I also want you to just be aware of the excess processed carbs you eat.

Do you need to sit down after dinner to watch a movie and eat a bag of potato chips or popcorn?

Do you need to excessively snack on a bag of Doritos?

Do you think you could handle eating a burger with no bun?

Instead of having french fries, can you have a salad or vegetable instead?

Oftentimes people say that Keto or low-carb is unhealthy. I'm going to give you a different overview. If I were to go back to my old ways of eating, eight and a half years ago, I used to eat bowls of cereal for breakfast and usually before bed. I ate macaroni, cheese, chicken nuggets, corndogs, Debbie Snacks, pizza, and more pizza. I also ate lots of toast and bagels, I snacked all the time on cookies and Debbie Snacks.

So when people say that keto or low-carb isn't healthy, I'm about to turn 40 here and I would say look better today than when I had our last daughter, eight and a half years ago.

Now I've switched it, it's not perfect but it's better.

  • I'm drinking more water and not orange juice.

  • I'm not eating cereal in the mornings.

  • I'm doing intermittent fasting or eating eggs.

  • I'm being mindful of the meals that I'm eating.

  • I'm taking the bun off the burger, the croutons off the salad, and the dressing on the side.

  • I'm eating more protein, veggies, and salads.

I'm not eating if I'm not hungry!

So regardless of what diet you're doing, you don't need to force feed yourself every two hours. You don't have to overcomplicate this, look into your sugar intake, and the excess carbs that you're eating. Pay attention to what you're drinking and eating when you're bored and emotional.

So which one is better? Should I go back to eating how I was eating eight years ago, or should I continue to eat vegetables, protein, and salads? I'm eating when I'm hungry and not when I'm bored. I'm drinking more water and less soda.

HOW TO GET STARTED?

There are a couple of steps that you can follow just to get started. And then you can choose to be more strict down the road. So when you decide to start, you can simply make better choices along the way. You can eat when you're hungry, not when you're bored. Get more sleep, move your body, and achieve your 10,000 steps if your goal is just to move.

We can get so caught up in watching everybody. We keep gathering all this information, all the Keto books and Keto Recipes. Which is great, but does it work for everybody? No!

Somebody asked me today if she can do keto without having dairy, and I said she can. But all the keto recipes seem to have dairy, so if you can't do dairy, you can do more proteins and veggies, or proteins and salads. You can use olive oil instead of butter. If you have more questions, send me a message.

If you're overwhelmed, take a breather.

You can visit our blog at ketomomsecrets.com. You can also check out tips on "How to get started". There are some basic food ideas there. If you want a food list, post "Foods" below and I'll give you some breakfast, lunch, and dinner ideas.

I drink ketones, water, electrolytes, and protein shakes. Those are my tools. I know a lot of people don't know what to do, and some things don't work. If ketones didn't work for me, I wouldn't be drinking them for eight years. I like drinking ketones because it's very simple. I also love the science behind it because it legitimately keeps me awake all day. It gives my brain a lot of fuel, it turns my brain on so that I'm not snacking all day.

It's my tool of choice and I can take it during my intermittent fasting. Let's be real, if you're diving into cutting back on sugar and eating better, it's always good to have something to help you and that's what I use. Some of you are drinking pots of coffee, going through a lot of drive-thru lines, or slamming some energy drinks. It's up to you, but I choose ketones.

If you want to know more about it, I will send you some videos. You can also post "ketones" or "Trial" in the comments and we can chat. Continue to tune into the page, and I'll answer your questions. So I hope this helps you not to feel overwhelmed. If you still feel a little overwhelmed, send me a message and I will try to help you.

Have a great day, and we'll talk to you soon!
