Time Management ( At Your Best by Carey Nieuwhof )

"Balanced people don't change the world, passionate people do". ~Carey Nieuwhof.

Welcome to the Keto Mom page, my name is Stephanie. And we're going through "At Your Best" by Carey Nieuwhof.

I have not been time managing well enough to be consistent with this book. Meaning we haven't gone over it every day, so I apologize.

So if you've been in this challenging spot where you need to work on your time management, managing your energy, and priorities, then this is the book for you.

It's about how we make sure we do the things that we want to do and have to do.

The author talked about how most people have the life they had always dreamed about. They have a home, a car, kids, and a career. And yet they still complain about not having time, the lack of energy, and not being able to manage their time or their priorities. If you actually think about it, they all have what they wanted.

"𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝘄𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝘄𝗲 𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘇𝗲 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲, 𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗲𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗹𝘆?"

Thanksgiving is around the corner, and so I'm planning Thanksgiving and all of the fun stuff for the family. I hope you're having an incredible morning. Time is actually flying way too fast, and I think we often find ourselves saying that we don't have enough time.

I'm going to give you the overview of chapter 3, and hopefully, it will make you think and ponder about something, or have an awareness of something in your life.

"On any given day, I have precisely the same amount of time as any other person on planet earth. One day, I randomly just thought to myself, I have the same amount of time in my day as the President has. But the President in the same amount of time has to manage the world, right? He's got to manage so many things".

"We all have the same amount of time. When it comes to time, you and I are rich. In fact, we're loaded, time doesn't discriminate. With two exceptions, the day that you were born and the day that you die, everyone gets exactly the same amount of time".

Oftentimes, people will say things like...
  • "Sorry, I didn't make time for it".

  • "Sorry, I just didn't make time".

  • "I didn't get my schoolwork done, I didn't have time".

  • "I didn't go to the gym, I didn't have time".

  • "I didn't prep my meals, I didn't have time".

  • "I didn't have the chance to get it done".

  • "I wasn't able to finish it".

  • "I just can't"...

  • "I wish, I could"...

  • "It's impossible"

Those are phrases that many people say, but in reality, we all have time for what we make time for.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗻𝘀 𝗶𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘀𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝘁? 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗲𝘅𝗰𝘂𝘀𝗲, 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘀𝗮𝗶𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳...
  • I actually had the time, but I didn't make the time.

  • I had the chance to get it done, but I just didn't want to.

  • I was able to finish it, but I just didn't do it.

  • I could, but I chose not to.

  • It's not impossible, but I just didn't make time for it.

  • I'm deciding to not work out.

  • I'm choosing to not go to the school play.

  • I'm choosing to watch football instead of prepping food.

  • I'm choosing to hit the snooze button.

  • I'm choosing not to plan my lunch, therefore I go to the drive-thru.

Here's the overview, which I think is great. It really gives you a different perspective on your choices. The results that you're wanting in life are a result of your choices, mindset, and the things you're saying like "I actually don't have time".

But you actually have time for what you make time for.

When it comes to time, you are rich. We all have the same amount of time. Whether it's me, a stay-at-home mom, CEO, teacher, or the president. We all have the same amount of time.

"The opportunities available to a capable person always exceed the time available. Time doesn't grow, it won't expand. This is why time management brings you diminishing returns. You can make excuses or you can make progress, but you can't have both".

So just by being aware of the thoughts, you're thinking and the words you're speaking. If all we're doing is talking about your health, how often do you find yourself saying, "I don't have time"?

It's a big deal. This is one of the biggest things that people say, "I don't want to take time to track my food". And yet, they're still carrying the extra 50, 60, 70, and 80 pounds. There are a lot of people that messaged me saying they need to lose 50 to 100 pounds.

You probably should track your food, at least for a couple of weeks to have an awareness of what you're eating. Because obviously just making better choices right now is not working.

𝗔𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝘂𝘀𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗱𝗼𝗻'𝘁 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼, 𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗱𝗼𝗻'𝘁 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗱𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁.

How often do we use that excuse?

Now that you know and you're aware, you can't go back. Sometimes we're talking with our friends, and we're sharing what we're learning...

  • What's God teaching you?

  • What are you learning?

  • What books are you reading?

Then sometimes our friends will say things like...

  • "I don't want to know"

  • "I don't tell me because I'm held accountable for it".

  • "I don't want to know that".

  • "I don't want to know that".

Because once you know, you know, and then you can't ever go back. Because you know how to get started and you know how to choose better foods. It's really not rocket science, there's the keto diet and then just choosing better foods.

You know that you need to drink more water, get more sleep, and move your body. You know what to do! If all we're doing is talking about your health, you actually already know what to do. You've heard me talk about how much water to drink, plan your meals for the week, or take the buns off your burgers.

Are you going to take the time to take care of your health, and not use the excuse? Stop saying you don't have the time and start admitting that you don't make the time. It's good awareness!
"𝗕𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗱 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗱𝗼𝗻'𝘁 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱, 𝗯𝘂𝘁 𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗱𝗼".

This book is really great because it gives you activities to do. He talks about your priorities, dream lists, and things you want to do. He helps you prioritize your time. If this is something that you actually need help with, I would encourage you to get the book and do the activities in the book.

Hopefully, it brought you some type of awareness this morning. I will help you with your food. I'll give you our recipes and ideas. If you send me a message, I'll message you back.

Some of it boils down to not making excuses.

So if you're looking for recipes, how to get started, or any books that we've done in the past, go to ketomomsecrets.com or continue to tune into the page. I'm always here to help. I hope you guys have a great morning and I'll talk to you soon. Bye, everybody!
