Mind Shift: No One Knows What They're Doing (Mind Shift by Erwin McManus)

Welcome to the Keto Mom page, my name is Stephanie. We're diving into the Mind Shift by Erwin McManus.

How often do we watch somebody on social media like Instagram, Facebook, or TikTok, and it seems like everybody knows what they're doing. Everybody is an expert. Everybody knows how to do the keto diet, or how to get healthy. And you're just sitting back thinking "I have no idea what I'm doing".

You want to be better in this area of my life.

You want to take your finances back.

You want to have a better marriage.

You want to have a better relationship with your kids.

You want to start a business or write a book.

You want to get healthy.

I'm going to tell you a little secret. When somebody starts something new, and it appears as if they know what they're doing, guess what? They actually have no clue.

Erwin McManus interviewed one of his friends who started a business and became super successful. He asked for secrets or tips that he and his wife did to succeed in their business.

What did you do to start the business and become successful? And his friend said, "We didn't have a plan. We actually had no idea and we actually felt like imposters when we first started".

How many of you want to be successful?

How many of you want a new business?

How many of you want to get healthy?

How many of you want to start?

But you might sometimes feel like an imposter because people will tell you that you have no idea what you're doing. You've never done that before.

You become like the top five people you hang around with. If those top five people aren't pursuing to be the best versions of themselves, then probably going to do the same.

When you don't know what you're doing, take action to do something.

Create a plan for your health

Get a coach

Go to the gym

Do something that is not like you

You might feel like everybody else has it figured out, but in reality, nobody does.

My husband and I are writing a book, and then we found out that there are a lot of things to it that we didn't realize. Our daughter, who is 16, also has a book done. And we have somebody helping us edit it and figuring out the cover. The other day, she was asking "How do we do this?", "How do we set this all up?"... The answer is to find people to help us out.

It's okay not to know, but we can't just sit back and go do nothing. We have to ask questions and find people that have done it. The key is to take the action. It's okay not to know, but I don't want you to sit on that do nothing.

I want you to be excited...

Be excited not knowing these things.

Be excited to learn.

Be excited to grow

Be excited to take it to the next step.

If you go down the wrong direction or make a wrong decision, then at least you did something.

"Usually when you start something, every time you start something new, you're going to feel like a novice or an imposter. 'Here I am starting a new business or going after a new cause'. 'I have no idea what I'm doing'. 'Who do I think I am, trying to take this on?'. 'From where I'm standing, it looks like everyone else knows what they are doing'... And this is how most people feel when they started to challenge".

"But guess what, no matter what direction you choose for your life, on the first day, you're going to feel not qualified. You might feel a little nervous, but you're doing something new and it simply makes you a beginner. It's what you do after you start that matters".

What matters is you start, and then you finish. There might be this journey of feeling unqualified, but when you're in that space, you should be excited. It means you're pursuing better, learning something new, and growing. It means you're not just staying back and settling for the status quo.

Because of social media, it seems like everybody else is an expert when they're not. It's okay! I'm not an expert too. You might watch me and feel like I'm an expert on how to eat keto. But in the very beginning of our health journey, I had no idea what I was doing. I went to the grocery store and I started with "PRUVIT KETONES". I knew I felt great because I had a packet of Ketones that got me to function. Ketones turned my brain on, and helped me be a better mom.

I also wanted to pursue being better for my husband because my husband wanted to lose weight. That's the simple truth. He wanted to lose around 50 pounds. I wanted to help him on his journey, so I started making keto, low-carb foods. I had no idea what I was doing. I went to the grocery store for the first time, and I walked out crying. I had four girls and I was super overwhelmed. I had no idea how to cook or shop. I did not know how to open an avocado, or eat a vegetable. But I knew it was all right!

I can make one meal at a time, one day at a time. I didn't dive into keto like most people. I didn't dive into this crazy diet. I ripped open the packet of ketones every morning, which I knew was going to help me feel better. I drank more water, I worked on one meal at a time.

I started with breakfast and eliminated the cereal. I started making eggs. I wasn't an enhanced keto coach. I was a mom working on being healthy. And then I dove into lunch. When I felt like I knew what I was doing. I dove into dinner. It took me a year to feel comfortable with low-carb food, eating healthier, choosing better, and understanding how to cook vegetables.

I wasn't an advanced social media expert. I was a beginner, a novice, an impostor. But I took it one step at a time.

"You hit the gas, and you will learn as you go. When you're starting something from scratch, the bad news is that you will feel like you have no idea what you're doing, and the feeling is pretty spot on. The good news is that, you're exactly where everyone else is when they were starting something new".

"And when you start, most people had no idea what they were doing. They did it wrong. They did it bad. Keep going no matter what. Never stop learning. Never stop growing. When you don't know what your competitive advantage is, let what you don't know be your competitive advantage".

Seek out opportunities

Seek out guidance

Seek out wisdom

Learn as you go

The secret to success is to just get started and just do it...

Do it scared.

Do it nervous

Do it when you feel unqualified

Do it when you don't feel like it's perfect

Do it when you feel like something didn't work, or you messed up in an area

Remember: "The only way you fail is if you quit"

"When the critics get into your head, whether it's you or somebody else, make the mind shift. No one knows what they're doing, and neither do I. And it's okay, I'm going to keep going no matter what".

And so that's the Mind Shift by Erwin McManus. This will gives us 12 mind shifts and we're going to work on them together. This will help you take those next steps and keep going. This will help you make a different perspective in your life, and be the best version of yourself.

You can do it, and I'm here to help. You can send a message and you can ask questions below. Continue to tune into the page. I hope you have an incredible day it's going to be a great day. I'll talk to you very soon. Bye everybody.
