"If you messed up today, that doesn't wreck the rest of your day. You don't have to wait till next week, or next year. You can start today by making one better choice".
Hey everybody! Welcome to the Keto Mom page. My name is Stephanie and I have two thoughts for you today...
I've been meaning to start this specific workout for at least five years. I want to get bigger and stronger arms. And I always say these things at the beginning of the year, but the year goes by and I still look the same. My muscles haven't got any bigger.
How many of you have set goals at the beginning of the year, and then realize that you haven't put the systems in place to hit those goals?
We started this Keto Mom page over seven years ago, and we've shifted a lot of things that have worked and have helped us achieve lots of different goals. We feel better, I have incredible energy, I have focus to homeschool our kids, and I feel stronger. And yet I still am not where I want to be.
So I looked at all the things I've done, and I realized that where I am today is the result of all the things I've done in the past. I feel great, but if I want to do something different, I'm going to have to tweak it a little bit. I do CrossFit, I eat clean, I drink my water, I drink ketones, I do all of these things. But if my goal is to have bigger biceps and what I've been doing over the last five years has not grown them, I need to make a shift.
So today I started something called Armageddon, which is a little arm workout created by our friend, Steve Weatherford. I'm going to be doing this 12-week program that has to do with bigger biceps.
Does anybody have any type of goal that you've been doing for years but still haven't reached that goal?
So I had a conversation with my daughter and she said, "Why would you start on Saturday? Monday will be the first of the month, why don't you just start on the first of every month?"... And just because she said that I'm going to start today. Why? Because I think oftentimes, we run that little thing in our mind that we need to start things on a Monday, or at the beginning of the week.
And so just because my daughter said those things, I'm going to start today.
"Well, half my day is done, I might as well just throw in the towel and eat whatever I want or do whatever. I'm not going to start today because I messed up the first part of the day".
That doesn't mean you have to mess up the rest of the day. I've actually also made excuses. I was supposed to start a week ago but we were traveling, we had doctor's appointments, and I just didn't make it a priority.
How often do you push things off and not make them a priority before you decide to start?
It doesn't matter what day it is, or if it's halfway through the day. You can still make one step forward towards your goal. So I did the arm workout, I've got 12 weeks of this Armageddon workout program. I eat more protein than somebody who is keto, so I would say I'm more low carb. I drink my ketones and my water every day, and I'm still going to CrossFit.
So I just wanted to really encourage you today. What are the goals? What are some of the things that you want to achieve? Remember, A goal is a goal. But it's the systems that are put in place that will get you to where you want to go. If you've read the book "Atomic Habits", the author said, "You don't rise to the level of your goals. You fall to the level of your systems".
I've had this goal for five years, but I did not automatically hit that goal just because I set the goal. My systems were down, and so in order for me to hit the goal of getting stronger or bigger biceps, I've got to create systems to get me there. I don't get to wish for it or hope for it. I can't just pray that my biceps will grow or I'll have stronger arms, I've got to work for it.
Are you going to wait till Monday, till next week, till the first of the month, or till summer's done? Because then you're going to keep putting it off. I'm not going to wait till the first, I'm going to start now. Let's start today!
Also, most people are here for fat loss. I have a little keto tip for you. Yesterday, my husband grabbed a can of something to drink out of the cooler. We were not at our home, we were somewhere else yesterday. And he realized how people easily can grab things to drink. He flipped the can over and remembered how most people drink a ridiculous amount of sugar.
If somebody's on a fat loss journey, how easy is it to slip? How easy is it to not pay attention to the things that you're drinking?
So the tip is to flip before you drink or eat something that's already packaged. This small can that my husband picked up had over 20 grams of sugar. So I think most people just don't have the awareness of how much sugar and how many things they're drinking that have no nutritional value whatsoever. So again, if you're grabbing something that has a label on it, the tip is to flip.
My husband could have easily drank four or five of those cans, which would have been at least 100 grams of sugar. It's just awareness, especially if you're on a health journey, the tip is to flip.
You also have to be aware of what's in your cup or your bottle. That is super important because that makes a huge difference in your fat loss journey. What are you drinking? If you drink coffee or tea, make sure you're paying attention to the amount of sugar you're putting in it. I drink water and ketones. If you've never tried ketones, they're unbelievable. It puts you in ketosis in under an hour, and it's a tool.
That's it!
Make a better choice today.
Have an awareness to do it today.
If you messed up today, that doesn't wreck the rest of your day.
You don't have to wait till next week or next year. You can start today by making one better choice.
Alright! We're going to enjoy this amazing day. Get out, get some sun, and breathe in the fresh air. Know that you are worthy, and you are worth it. I'm here to help. I hope you have a great afternoon and we'll talk to you soon!
