Scott Alexander talks about "Success has a recipe, you can have all the necessary ingredients like goals and plans and motivation in the computer, everything that you need, you can have everything that you need to reach success. But the number one thing that you cannot give to anybody else is the ingredient of desire". He says you can give people motivation and inspiration, you can hand people books, or you can give them the how to. I can give you the recipes and the Keto tips and tricks, but the one thing I cannot make up for or gift somebody is desire.

Good morning! Welcome to the Keto Mom page, my name is Stephanie and we are almost to June 1st. It's almost summer, which I think is crazy, one week left of the month. How are your goals or your systems, how are things going? A great morning so far, getting Monday started. I did not do a live on Saturday or Sunday, I read my book, just a part of my system every single day. And then we enjoyed our weekend so much with our kids, we had a dance recital, ballet, and we live on a lake so we had friends over and my kids pretty much lived in the water for the entire weekend. How was your weekend? How are you doing, and how are you liking the books? For those of you who have the book, how are you liking it? A lot of you have messaged me and said, "I'm done with the book and I have the new one ordered".


We're starting this one ("Miracle Morning" by Hal Elrod) on June 1st. I don't have them to mail out this time, but you can go ahead and get it at a lot of bookstores, I think Barnes and Noble, Amazon, any bookstore, you can find. We're going to do this book ("Miracle Morning" by Hal Elrod) on in the first two weeks of June. So if you want to grab it and follow along, awesome. If you don't want to have the book, follow along here, and then we're also going through "Atomic Habits" by James Clear, so grab those two books. We're finishing up this one ("Rain or Shine" by Scott Alexander). it was a super easy read to get you in the mode of reading, and so I'm just going to go through a couple of things that I loved that he said.


It's so funny... The awareness of this book, I don't know if any of you have picked out a theme, but one of the themes in the entire book is something that we talk about a lot. And it's just about taking action on your goals. So I'm going to read a couple things to you, and then I'm going to show you what this 24 hour kit is that I'm doing currently.


So real quick, throughout the weekend, you would have read chapters forty six, and I think you might be on fifty four or about to finish the book before the end of the month if we keep reading three chapters a day. I'm not going to read to you all of it, but just through a couple things.

He talks about "Success has a recipe, you can have all the necessary ingredients like goals and plans and motivation in the computer, everything that you need, you can have everything that you need to reach success". But the number one thing, the one ingredient that you cannot give to anybody else is the ingredient of desire.

He says you can give people motivation and inspiration, you can hand people books, you can give them the how tos. I can give you the recipes and the Keto tips and tricks, but the one thing you cannot make up for or gift somebody is desire. If you don't have the desire to get off the couch, or take action, I can't give that to you. It's got to come from the heart, which ultimately means you don't feel bad enough to take control of your health. You don't feel bad enough to want to get up and move. Sometimes it takes hitting that rock bottom to go "I have to make a change". I wish I could gift desire to you but I cannot, there's no place to buy desire, you have to have it.


You get what you need

And so he talks about a story of the Rolling Stones and he says

"The Rolling Stones have it right. You can't always get what you want, but you get what you need".

And so I loved that part of the book. He talks about moving... A majority of this is just about desire and taking action. Oftentimes I'll say "Okay, over the weekend, did you plan your meals, did you take action?" Not, did you think about it? I'm curious. Are you set up for success this week, it's Monday. Do you have your meals planned, do you have your groceries bought, do you have your lunch plans? You're not going through the drive thru if you're at work, or if you're at the office, are you planned.

"If you fail to plan you plan to fail".

If you did not get this weekend to figure out your meals and get your menu down and go to the grocery store, if you did not, then you get to do it today. It's taking action. It's a simple choice of going "I'm going to take ten minutes, I'm going to figure out what I have in my fridge and look through my cupboard, and I'm going to figure it all out so I don't get in the hustle and bustle of the weekend". All of a sudden you go through the drive thru four times this week, "If you fail to plan you plan to fail". So part of it is taking action and moving. He tells a lot of good stories in these next few chapters. Again, it's about taking action. One of the things I want to talk about, he told a story about getting discouraged. Looking at other people's progress, taking action now, and then he talks about the realness of life. Oftentimes we compare our journeys to other people, maybe you're looking at somebody online, whether you're watching their journey, or you go "How did they get to where they are today". But you didn't see the whole story, and it's easy to go "I wish I had that or if I had that I would have success". I love this phrase and it's not in the book, but it's something that one of our friends have said to us before...

"The grass isn't greener on the other side, but the grass is greener where you water it". So your grass will be greener where you are at in your life and in your circumstances, and in your environment if you water it. Meaning take care of your grass, take care of your life.

If you're looking at social media in comparison mode, and you're constantly going, "He's lucky and she's lucky, I don't have that, and if I had that"... If you can't get your blinders on to stay focused on the simple things that you put in your mouth, then you need to stop following certain people get your blinders on stay in your lane and take action.

You can't watch people if you're in comparison mode, the grass is greener, where you water it.

I think it was this weekend, my girls Great Grandma, our grandma was over this weekend. She said if people could just simply get control of their mouths, if they could get one thing in control, if they could get control of their mouths, everything else would fall into place. She's wonderful, She is a very wise grandma. And she's like, if people could just simply control the food they put in their mouth, they would feel better. If they simply could just control the words they say over themselves or others, they would feel better. They would make better choices they wouldn't feel in such despair. And I was like Grandma, you are so right. This can get you into trouble, whether it's the things that you're eating or the words that you're speaking, the negative things that are coming out. It's so important to watch your words, and to watch the things that you're saying. I hope it's making sense, and so there's just a couple things I had that I often keep in mind, if I find myself comparing...

"The grass is greener where I water it, so I better water my own grass".

Your words can make or break you

My words have the power of life and death. If I'm getting in this like funk, and I start speaking negatively or things about me, I'm like "My words are powerful, my words have the power of life and death. I'm not going to speak trash over myself". Lots of different things, I'm sharing this on my Instagram Stories right now. The underlying number one key thing to this book is taking action, and I think I've said this before, but it's just a fun analogy. If there's four birds on a wire, and one decides to fly away... How many birds are left on the wire? The key word is "Decide"... How many birds are left on the wire?. You could draw all this out, but there's still four birds left on the wire.


Why? Because it's the thoughts, the thoughts are powerful, but it's the action that actually changes things. Just because you think something, just because you think I'm going to get healthier or I really should go to the grocery store or to the gym. "I really should" does not mean you took the action. It's the action that has to be taken. Okay so we've got one week to June. How are you doing on your goals and your systems? Let's do the 24 hour fast together

Okay, real quick, this is what a lot of us are doing right now. It's a 24 hour fast, and what it entails is last night, I had some PM pills and a NAT Ketones before bed, so I took these last last night. And then today, I've already had my Ketones, it looks like this, I just have a different flavor. I love blueberry, and I've been drinking this for six years, it's incredible. So if you want to know more about my Mom Fuel, just post three in the comments.


We take this in the morning, you stop eating for the 24 hour fast yesterday, anywhere from three to five o'clock. You have an earlier dinner, and then you're done until today. So it rests and resets your body. It's super, super great. I'm going to show some visuals in my story, so when I'm done, you can check those out. And then you have your lunch, which is your better broth, and then you've got some electrolytes just to throw in your water.
